Walking the Leaf Pile Obstacle Course
This time of year, with leaf piles every 20 feet along the road, Pappy's walks have to be extended considerably in order to offer adequate sniffing time. As an added bonus, he's taken to wading deep into these piles to take a dump. It's now a wonderful scavenger hunt through leaves to find the "warm needles in a haystack" to protect leaf-jumping kids from ending up "Truman Dirty".
Pappy has recently been showing a curious interest in storm drains, and I finally figured out he must think they are animal dens. I hope he doesn't try to take off down one. We wouldn't want to hear tales of giant albino terriers in the sewers of Takoma Park.

The leaf pile is an excellent trick. I may incorporate that into my repertoire, perhaps in combination with the dominant dog scratching the ground move that I pull out just when the Great Oppressors lean down to bag the poop.

Hey Pappy: I like storm drains too! There are lots of good smells and interesting stuff. I REALLY like the ones in DeeSee, Azrizona doesn't do much with storm drains!

Sid, Excellent plan. Pappy's best move at present is to haul himself forward while pooping so it's spread across the widest possible area.
Gus, I used to live in Tucson back when the underpasses would flood during heavy rains. Always a good surprise when driving. A few storm drains wouldn'a hurt.
Hmm, unlike sunny dry Arizona, here in the city we have plenty of sewer drains. But no one plays in them due to the cars racing by and the big huge rats living them. And leaves, no piles around here. We saw a big truck suck them all up and grind them to a pulp. Urban living...gotta love it!
