Tongue Treatment

I'm fairly manly and stoic for a geek, so I don't have much truck with emollients and lotions. But since the cold snap of the past couple of weeks, my skin has been getting a little chapped and itchy. Yesterday morning I decided to apply a little Kiehl's Creme de Corps lotion-- a scentless preparation for manly men.

Pappy raced into the room, and, in a fervor, he set to the task of licking off every scintilla of lotion within tongue's reach. It must be like butter to his kibble-weary palette, because he could not be restrained. When I mentioned his obsession to my wife, she acted like she knew all about it and it was no big deal. Hmmmm.

Meanwhile, we are racing off to New York to visit my brother-in-law this weekend, leaving Pappy in the care of his favorite German housesitter. She's a student at a nearby college, and just learned English a year or two ago. Her "Pappy" sounds a bit more like "Peppy", but that's a good name too.

Totally off topic, but I wanted to let you know that Max has joined the social networking site, dogster.

Gayle,
I love Max's internet premiere-- it's about time Wheaton Dog Park regulars made their presence felt. I've never joined Dogster to honor Toby Littledude's screed a while back. But there are many honorable dogs featured out there, and the glove eating Max looks lovely and psycho.

Finnegan,
I only regret that we aren't taking Pappy on his first road trip.

Take Pappy with you. We really didn't get to know Gus until we were cooped up in a (relatively) small car together for several consecutive twelve hour days on the road!

We kept him. He's a real charmer.

Hi,
I know that cream-licking-thing. My dog totally prefers (besides fresh sweat) sun-tan-cream. But maybe this is not manly enough that you could give it a try...

Gus,
This trip we're hopping the Washington Deluxe bus from DC to NYC-- $35 round trip-- so no canine passengers. We definitely plan our big car trip with Papster in the summer.

H&M,
Despite being manly, I burn like white bread. Pappy will certainly get a chance to lick sun cream when summer arrives.
