Thinking Small Picture

Pappy in the Wild, 2006-01-02On days like yesterday, Pappy doesn't ponder big picture items like the enduring legacy of ex-Presidents or global warming. He was pretty happy to have us at home for an unplanned holiday during President Ford's funeral. The highlight was a nice long walk in the unseasonably warm weather. Of course I always have that crumbling Antarctic icepack from Inconvenient Truth running on a tape loop through my head.

Glad that you had a nice walk, Pappy. If the globe warmed up at least you wouldn't have to worry about a cold butt! But it's already too hot down here.

Unfortunately that whole Global Warming thing does nothing for growing grass. We tried for 3 summers...nada. We have too much shade & too much doggie zoomies.

We gave up & laid playground mulch over the whole yard. But we have a small yard!

Happy Walking Pappy!!

Texas,
He does look a bit chilly sitting on the pavement. But he'd be chillier if the pavement were under water.

Ferndoggle,
Yours sounds like a similar story to ours. After several years of summer droughts, the addition of a dog has tipped the balance against us.

I don't get a chance to destroy the grass. We hardly have any cuz of all the pine trees and their needles.

And at our other house - it's set in a hammock of 100 year oak trees - so no grass!

Buster,
We have one Gi-normous oak in back which certainly handicaps our efforts at grass growth. Those pine needles sound like a good alternative.

Inconvenient Truth definitely scared us all! I think that I would rather have a snowy winter to eat snow and roll around in it than be scorching hot or underwater!
