My New Favorite Search Engine
I remember way back in the nineties when I moved from Metacrawler to Google as my favorite search engine-- I was a pretty early adopter. But, in a recent bout of navel gazing, I typed just "Pappy" into Yahoo, and Pappy's Dog Blog came up as the number one hit ahead of Pappyland, Pappy Boyington, and many other worthy Pappies. Google is so ten-minutes-ago that we don't even appear on the first page.
To be frank, I find it unfathomable that Pappy even appears on Yahoo's list. It leaves me wondering if they are somehow tracking my activities, then playing on my vanity by bubbling up favorite sites for my every search. Woo-ooo-oo, the internet sure is a creepy place full of scary people who know everything about you.

Freddie was briefly the first hit for "Freddie." I will never, ever understand search engines.
Jim,
You've accomplished one thing that I can't seem to get done... you're in Yahoo's directory listing of Individual Dog Blogs. I've submitted Pappy's site a couple of times without result.
Macgoogle,
We're all starz. Of course, then you go out to Technorati and find out you're one of like six billion billion blogs, exactly like the starz. This is what keeps me so grounded and humble and all.
Huh, learn something new every day. Apparently Taj MuttHall *is* on Yahoo's list, which I didn't know existed, and I never submitted nuthin'. Why anyone would want to read most of it, I don't know.

Right back at you Pappy, except we will for ever be Google fans!!
Shelby & Nutmeg
BTW, I love your Blog - You are one fine fella!!
Sunshine,
Thanks for the props.
A while back I found that we were #1 googlable under "pappy's dog blog" or even just "pappy dog" (no mean feat, since there are pappy dog bowls and pappy-poo dogs). But Pappy is interested in "Madonna-izing" the franchise, and going by a single name. I'm afraid Google is out until they accommodate us in their search rules.
elf,
They randomly pick some entries in order to torment us pathetic, attention-starved blogs into dropping $299 on 7-day turnaround on the directory additions to join the club. Bask in your glory, for it is both glorious and meaningless at the same time.
What about Dogpile.com? Have you typed the word "Pappy" in Dogpile?
Tierre (TY-ree)
Nope Tierre, Dogpile has us down at number 10. Pappy can't abide that-- we've got our reputation to think of. Yahoo it is.
