First Snow

First SnowWell, DC had it's first snow of the season. As these things go in our area, it was an early whopper of 3 to 4 inches. Pappy was wild with excitement, though I can't say his aptitude for ball chasing translates as well to snowy conditions. With each toss he'd lose the ball, then go snorkling around for five minutes in search of it.

I let him out for a late evening pee, and, for the life of me, I can't get him to come in. He just keeps prancing around in the pre-winter wonderland.

Actually Pappy remains exceedingly hard to get in from the snow if he has his ball with him. He spends all his time shoving it shoving it around the drifts.

Here's some helpful advice from those of us who live at 8,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains, where it snows A LOT.

Switch to a bigger ball in winter. That way, you get more fetching, less snow snorkeling for your I'm-freezing-my-@#$@#-off-here buck.

Aww, I miss the excitement of the years first snow. I can almost hear the crunch of the snow under my feet and feel the pain on my ears from the cold.

We're still in the 50's and 60's here and it's gonna be 75 degrees on Monday! No wonder I can't kick this cold that I have.

All of the dogs I've ever had have either loved snow or hated it. Glad to see Pappy is a lover.

Dear Pappy and Nat! Indeed you do have snow! I see Pappy has made a pearl neck collar and facemask of it! Looks quite, ummm..... quite chilly>(^,^)<
Mommy and I have been admiring your art...that first portrait we saw of Jackson just jumped right out at us...like a doggy should who is happy to see someone!
Thank you for doing a kitty portrait. I know that is like going into enemy territory, but you know not all kitties and doggies are hostile to each other. Jackson is even my very best friend!!
Mommy does art also, but not with paint like your daddy. She uses papers and ink in her media when she makes small books and ATC's.
I would be delighted to have her make a special one for you Pappy...woof you like that?

Love it! Great picture. Our dogs keep ringing the darn bell wanting to go out to play in the snow. It can be very annoying!
