Visual Evidence

I've written in the past about Pappy's complex about treats over four inches long, but this public service announcement provides a documentary exhibit. The object of his pathological anxiety is a pressed rawhide bone from his birthday stash of goodies. You can't really hear his whining throughout the incident, because it often penetrates the ultrasonic range.

Following the filming he took the bone into the backyard, scraped aside some mulch, and partly covered it-- a milestone! The first time (to my knowledge) he's buried something! After a couple of hours I finally coaxed him into gnawing the end a bit, at which point he snarfed it down.

Oh Pappy you are so cute & gentle with your bone - seems like you are not sure whether to play with it or chomp on it
I try & take on bones & chewys that are as big as me & sometmes too big for me to even move !!!

Very cute! I wonder what Ozzy would do with a bone. We just have chew toys and stuffed animal. Ozzy loves them all.

Charlie, Bogart, Bella, Nugget,
This is definitely the adorable part of giving him a treat. But then there is the other two hours of him wandering around the house, treat in mouth, crying incessantly...

Teka,
Tempting though your offer is for us, Pappy does have some perverse love affair with his bones. He's just a melancholy romantic.

Pappy is too funny. My mommy is in love with him. I guess I will have to start throwing my bones back at her. Not!

You haven't, perchance, left a copy of Kliban's "Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head" lying around?

Mom was laughing so hard when Pappy threw the bone back, we thought she was going to fall out of her chair. If it is remotely edible, Sammy will grab it and give it a go.

Finn and Dachsies,
I guess I didn't realize the throwing thing was that unusual. He always tosses me his ball that way. Really.

Nugget,
I used to have that book, but it's long gone. I remember the cover with the mound of mashed potatoes in the shape of a head.

Maggie,
It is oddly like he's trying to share the rawhide. Strange.

Ferndoggle,
He's got me trained alright... trained to spend hours on the blog and movies.
