Model Dog

Typical Pappy Photo OpOn seeing Pappy photos and paintings, some of you have commented on what a perfect model Pappy must be. I just wanted to take a moment to correct that misimpression. In point of fact, the photo at left is much more typical of a Pappy photo session. To counteract this, my secret is volume, volume, volume... ridiculous numbers of photographs and retakes, followed by time in editing programs recropping everything. You could say that my main inspiration for the oddball angles in the paintings was that most photos I have of him come out like that.

Many of my photos consist of uninteresting scenery with one of Buddha's ears in the corner.

But today I finally succeeded in getting some closeups of Buddha with his tongue showing. I wanted a photographic record of the lovely circular birthmark he has centered perfectly just above the tip of his tongue.

good job Pappy, sitting for photos is such a bore!

When gussie first joined us, he was a great model. Now, his one aim in life seems to be to move exactly when the shutter snaps. I look at photos other blog mothers and dads take, and I weep.

At least you can paint pictures of Pappy! Mine would end up totally non-representational.

I have taken many pictures thinking there was a dog in the middle of the shot only to review it and find it empty. Thank goodness for digital camera's so we don't have to pay for all those bad shots!

Have you thought about using these as a new trend in photography? a few impressive frames and a straight face when someone asks how you came up with such innovations?

We dogs live to cause havoc for our photographers! It's a small payback for that flash going off in our face all the time. : )

That's how my cats' photographs are. Usually one of them zipping around or doing something crazy. His tail looks really fluffy in that photo. And I am waiting for a new Pappy postcard to go up for grabs.

The new Pappy postcard is up, for those so industrious as to enter to win.

I usually bark everytime the camera comes out which is why there are so many shots of me with my mouth open, looking angry. J1 is getting better at catching me inbetween barks though. Or asleep, which is kind of cheating. J x
