Bay Dog
Last year when we brought Pappy to the dog beach at Quiet Waters State Park on the Chesapeake Bay (a.k.a. Dog Shangri-La), he had some curiosity about the water and ambled in up to his ankles. We went back today, and he was in up to his eyeballs. I couldn't get him to come out. He kept dropping the ball in a foot of water, as if I was going to join him for fetch.
The beach is pretty shallow, so I never saw him really swimming. But all the same I was most impressed with his water dogging. Afterwards we went with Pappy and Polly to Muddy Paws for coffee-- as I sat there, I kept mumbling to myself that it all could have been mine.

That's a fantastic picture! I love it. :)

Oh my, I keep seeing all of these photos of doggies in the water and it just makes me cringe, I hate water!!
What a great photo with your big swishy tail sticking up. Looks like you're having a blast!

I'm with Joe! Everybody is at the beach and I hate to get wet!
Love ya lots,
Maggie
Sparky and Oscar,
Twas a lovely day. Truth is that, with scrawny legs and droopy hair, Pappy normally looks pretty ridiculous when wet.
Joe and Maggie,
Yeah, my brother's dog has no love for water except on the tongue.
Sigh...idyllic. Sigh....jealous. Looks like a great time
:) That DOES look like Shangri La !

Gus,
Why so sad? You've got... um... cactuses... and ... sunshine and ... um... and cow skeletons.
Charlie,
It was great, but you live in Portland. Gimme some of that river and coast action.
That looks incredible. All we have are 3 Muddy Rivers!

P.S. Sorry I couldn't resist. I had to tag Pappy. I'm sure he won't disappoint!
Hi ya Pappy! That photo of you in the water is terrific. I'll go into the water up to my elbows, but that is it. I have never swam, and probably never will. I'm not much of a water dog.
Toodles,

Very cool pic! Look a bit like the Loch Ness Monster to me... oh - wrong country.

Ferndoggle,
I'll get right on it. The cogs are turning.
Sweets,
You just need the right motivation... snorkeling squirrel perhaps?
Kerrio,
I actually was thinking at one point that the long water shot and Pappy's tail were a bit like the classic Nessie photo.
I tagged you yesterday!
Ty-ree,
Got it all under control. Stay tuned.
Great Picture Pappy - you look very happy in the water - did you shake all over your hoomans??

Bella,
Actually pappy did wander around behind a woman and do a full body shake within a couple of feet. Fortunately she thought it was funny.
So, then I guess Pappy is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever?
Turbo,
Honorary, yes.
